Truth #2- Part 1
I must honor God with my spiritual temple
“By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of [our] lips giving thanks to his name.” Hebrews 13:15
Have you ever felt fat?
Ugly?
Too tall or too short?
Maybe you noticed those dimples a little deeper (not the dimples on your face!) this morning.
It is physiologically impossible to gain 5lb of actual body weight over night. I know this to be true and I have spoken this truth to others many times. However, I could almost convince myself to pull out the tape measure and stand on the scale some mornings to prove that theory wrong. What makes us wake up some mornings and “feel” heavier?
Was it that artesian bread dream during the night? Or the quick stop at the donut shop the day before?
When the morning brings us feelings of an extra five pounds that is the prime time to honor God with our spiritual temple.
Stop, drop and pray!
Stop looking in the mirror at your physical body
Drop to your knees in humility before your Almighty Creator
Pray for your viewpoint to change so that you can submit your spirit to His will. Thank HIM for another day of life, no matter what your body looks like.
Give an offering of praise to Him, and give thanks to His name!
“Bring [your] thanks to God as a sacrifice,” Psalm 50:14
Honoring God with your spiritual temple will require a sacrifice of physical time. Words of affirmation with Scripture memory is one of the most effective ways to keep your spirit in tune with His.
A few of my favorites are:
~ I am chosen by God, holy, and dearly loved- “Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience.” Col. 3:12
~ I am God’s workmanship- “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works.” Eph 2:10
~ I am holy, and I share in God’s heavenly calling- “Therefore, holy brethren, partakers of a heavenly calling, consider Jesus, the Apostle and High Priest of our confession;” Heb. 2:11
Are you honoring God with your Spiritual temple?
What changes are you willing to make?
Copy these out onto index cards and keep them with you. When you are stopped at a red light- read and memorize them. When you are putting your makeup on, quote them out loud to yourself in the mirror.
Honor Him with your spiritual temple! Before we can be willing to make physical changes we must make spiritual changes first. Know and understand that we are created by HIM- Spiritual and Physical bodies alike.
